Masted Rough Terrain Truck - IC These machines are outfitted with a mast and come with large flotation type tires for outdoor use on un-improved terrain. They are typically used at construction sites to transport and lift building materials to various job site locations. They are also common with lumber yards and auto recyclers. They can be equipped in two wheel or four wheel drive configuration. They can have rear axle steering or in some cases they can have steerable wheels on both axles which is called "crab" steering. These machines are powered by diesel or gasoline engines and typically are equipped with powershift transmissions. This category of forklift is also defined as a Class 7 rough terrain forklift truck with pneumatic tires as per ASME B56.1.
