Sit-Down 3-Wheel Truck Electric These are counterbalanced lift trucks which can be equipped with cushion or solid pneumatic tires. They are intended for indoor smooth floor applications. They are used extensively on loading docks and in staging areas to the warehouse. The three wheel 180 degree steering capability gives the lift truck a very short turning radius. This makes the forklift highly maneuverable and a good fit for loading/unloading trailers and other dock-side applications. These forklifts use smaller diameter tires and have less ground clearance than equivalent four wheel lift trucks. Newer lift trucks are being equipped with AC motors for improved reliability and lower maintenance than previous DC motor lift trucks. This category of forklift is also defined as a Class 1 electric motor sit-down rider counter-balanced truck with solid or pneumatic tires as per ASME B56.1.
